1. Overview & scope

Meyy.info ("we", "us", "our", or "the Site") is operated by the Meyy Editorial Team and is accessible at https://meyy.info. We publish free pricing calculators and rate-setting guides for freelancers, makers, and small businesses. Our calculators run entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript — the numbers you enter into any calculator never leave your device, are never transmitted to our servers, and are never stored by us. This is a foundational privacy commitment of the Site: your calculator inputs are not collected by us at all.

This Privacy Policy describes the limited data we do collect — server logs, contact-form submissions, cookie-based analytics, and advertising data — and explains how that data is used, who it is shared with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to all visitors to the Site, regardless of whether you contact us, fill out a form, or simply read a guide or run a calculator. By using the Site, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

This policy is designed to comply with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and other applicable state, national, and international privacy laws. Where this policy refers to a specific legal framework, the relevant section identifies which rights apply to which users.

2. Data we collect

We collect a minimal amount of personal data. The data we collect falls into four categories:

• Data you provide directly. When you submit our contact form on contact.php or email us at contact@meyy.info, we collect your name, your email address, and the contents of your message. If you submit a correction request, we may also collect the URL of the affected page and any source citation you provide. This data is used to respond to your inquiry and is retained for as long as is necessary to provide that response and to maintain a record of the conversation, as described in the Data retention section below.
• Data collected automatically when you visit the Site. Like virtually every website, our server logs certain technical information each time a page is loaded: your IP address (truncated to a /24 prefix for IPv4 or /48 for IPv6 in our long-term logs), the date and time of the request, the URL requested, the referring URL (the page you came from), your user-agent string (which identifies your browser and operating system), and a status code indicating whether the request succeeded. This data is used for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and aggregate traffic analytics. It is not used to identify you personally.
• Data collected via cookies and similar technologies. We use a small number of cookies and browser storage technologies to remember your cookie-consent choice, to measure aggregate traffic patterns via privacy-conscious analytics, and to serve advertising through Google AdSense and other advertising networks. The specific cookies used are listed in our Cookie Policy. Most of these cookies are set by third-party domains (Google, analytics providers) and are governed by those providers' privacy policies.
• Data we do NOT collect. We do not collect the numbers you enter into any calculator. Calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript and are never transmitted to our server. We do not require an account to use any part of the Site. We do not collect payment information — we have no payment form, no paid tier, and no e-commerce functionality. We do not collect precise geolocation data. We do not collect biometric data. We do not collect data from children under 13, as described in the COPPA section below.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

• To respond to your inquiries. When you submit the contact form or email us, we use your name, email address, and message content to read, understand, and respond to your inquiry. This is the primary purpose for which we collect direct personal data.
• To operate and maintain the Site. Server log data is used to monitor the Site for security issues, to detect and prevent abuse (such as denial-of-service attacks or scrapers), to diagnose technical problems, and to measure aggregate traffic patterns (which pages are most read, which calculators are most used, which guides are most cited). This aggregate analytics data does not identify you personally.
• To improve our content. Aggregate analytics — for example, which calculator pages have the highest engagement, which guides are most frequently exited mid-read — informs our editorial priorities. We use this data to decide which calculators to build next, which guides to expand, and which sections to clarify. We do not use this data to build a profile of you as an individual.
• To serve advertising. We display advertising through Google AdSense and may add additional advertising networks in the future. Google and its partners use cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. The advertising cookies section below explains this in detail and explains how to opt out.
• To comply with legal obligations. We may disclose data when required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or government request; when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others; or to investigate fraud, security, or technical issues.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not rent your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. The only third parties with whom we share data are the service providers and advertising partners described in this policy, each of which is bound by their own privacy commitments and the contractual limitations described in the third-party vendors section.

4. Cookies & similar technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They allow the website (or a third party, such as an advertising network) to remember things about your visit — for example, that you have already consented to cookies, what language you prefer, or which pages you have visited on this and other sites. We use four categories of cookies on meyy.info, each described in detail in our Cookie Policy:

• Essential cookies — required for the Site to function. These include a cookie that remembers your cookie-consent choice (so the consent banner does not reappear on every page load) and session cookies used for security and abuse prevention. Essential cookies cannot be disabled if you wish to use the Site.
• Preference cookies — remember choices you make (such as a dark-mode toggle, if implemented). These are optional and can be disabled without affecting Site functionality.
• Analytics cookies — used to measure aggregate traffic patterns so we can understand which content is most useful to our readers. We use privacy-conscious analytics that do not cross-site track you. These cookies can be disabled via the consent banner or your browser settings.
• Advertising cookies — used by Google AdSense and other advertising networks to serve and measure ads, including personalized advertising based on your visits to this and other websites. These cookies are governed by the policies of the ad networks that set them and can be opted out of via Google's Ads Settings and the aboutads.info opt-out.

When you first visit the Site, a cookie-consent banner appears at the bottom of the page asking whether you accept or decline non-essential cookies. Your choice is stored in an essential cookie so the banner does not reappear. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your cookies for the Site and reloading the page, or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings as described in our Cookie Policy.

5. Google AdSense & advertising cookies

Meyy.info displays advertising through Google AdSense. Google AdSense is a third-party vendor that uses cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie described in the next section — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. The ads you see may be personalized — that is, selected based on inferences about your interests derived from your browsing history across multiple websites — or non-personalized, in which case they are selected based on the context of the page you are viewing (for example, the topic of the guide you are reading) without reference to your past browsing.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads. The Ads Settings page lets you view and edit the interests Google has inferred about you, opt out of interest-based advertising from Google entirely, and review the ads you have interacted with. Opting out does not remove advertising from the Site — it only means the ads you see will be selected based on the context of the page rather than your past browsing.

You may also opt out of personalized advertising from many participating ad networks — including Google's — by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance's consumer choice page at www.aboutads.info/choices. The aboutads.info opt-out sets an opt-out cookie in your browser for each participating ad network. If you clear your cookies, switch browsers, or switch devices, you will need to re-apply the opt-out. The aboutads.info page also offers a "Persistent Opt-Out" browser extension for Firefox and Chrome that maintains the opt-out across cookie clears.

6. The DoubleClick DART cookie

Google's DoubleClick DART cookie is a specific advertising cookie that is set in your browser when you visit a website that displays ads served by Google's DoubleClick advertising platform (which underlies Google AdSense). The DART cookie enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the Internet. Specifically, the DART cookie records a unique identifier in your browser that allows Google to recognise your browser across multiple websites that participate in the DoubleClick ad network, and to use the aggregate of your visits across those sites to infer interests that can be used to select personalized ads.

Google's DART cookie has a maximum lifetime of 540 days from the most recent interaction, after which it is automatically rotated. You can disable the DART cookie in three ways: (1) opt out of personalized advertising via Google's Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads, which sets an opt-out cookie that prevents the DART cookie from being used for personalized ad serving; (2) opt out via the Digital Advertising Alliance at www.aboutads.info/choices, which sets opt-out cookies for DART and other participating ad networks; or (3) block third-party cookies in your browser settings, which prevents the DART cookie from being set in the first place. Instructions for blocking third-party cookies in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge are provided in our Cookie Policy.

7. Third-party vendors & ad networks

The following third-party vendors and advertising networks may collect data through cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies when you visit meyy.info. Each vendor is governed by its own privacy policy, which is linked below. We have included placeholders for the Google AdSense publisher ID — when AdSense is activated, the publisher ID will be ca-pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (replaced with the real ID before launch).

We do not knowingly share personal data with any third party for purposes other than those described in this policy. We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your contact-form submissions with advertising partners. We do not combine data collected on the Site with data collected from other sources to build a profile of you as an individual.

8. Opting out of personalized advertising

If you do not want personalized advertising, you have three effective options:

• Google Ads Settings. Visit https://www.google.com/settings/ads and opt out of interest-based advertising from Google. This sets an opt-out cookie in your browser that prevents Google from using the DART cookie and other advertising cookies to serve personalized ads.
• aboutads.info. Visit www.aboutads.info/choices and opt out of personalized advertising from all participating ad networks in one place. The Digital Advertising Alliance maintains this opt-out on behalf of the advertising industry.
• Browser settings. Block third-party cookies in your browser. This prevents advertising networks from setting cookies in your browser at all. Instructions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge are in our Cookie Policy. Most modern browsers also offer a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal; while Google AdSense does not currently respond to DNT or GPC signals, we respect them to the extent technically possible for our own first-party analytics.

Please note: opting out of personalized advertising does not remove advertising from the Site — we still need advertising revenue to keep the Site free. It only means the ads you see will be selected based on the context of the page you are viewing rather than your past browsing history across multiple sites.

9. GDPR — rights of users in the European Economic Area and the UK

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR:

• Right of access. You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and information about how we are processing it. To exercise this right, email contact@meyy.info with the subject line "GDPR access request".
• Right to rectification. If the personal data we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to have it corrected. Email us with the subject line "GDPR rectification request" and tell us what is wrong.
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"). You have the right to request that we delete the personal data we hold about you, subject to limited exceptions (for example, where we are required to retain data to comply with a legal obligation). Email us with the subject line "GDPR erasure request".
• Right to restrict processing. You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances — for example, while we investigate a contested accuracy claim.
• Right to data portability. You have the right to receive the personal data you provided to us in a structured, machine-readable format (such as JSON or CSV) and to transmit that data to another controller without hindrance from us.
• Right to object. You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing or for purposes based on our legitimate interests. If you object to processing for direct marketing, we will stop.
• Right to withdraw consent. Where we rely on your consent to process your data (for example, for non-essential cookies), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

We respond to all valid GDPR requests within one month of receipt. If a request is complex or numerous, we may extend the response period by a further two months, in which case we will inform you of the extension and the reason for it within the first month.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. The lead supervisory authority for meyy.info is the data protection authority in the jurisdiction in which you reside — for example, the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK (ico.org.uk) or your national DPA in the EEA. We are not required to designate an EU representative under Article 27 of the GDPR because we do not process large-scale special-category data and our processing of EU residents' data is incidental to the global operation of a free, ad-supported informational website.

10. CCPA — "Do Not Sell My Personal Information"

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). The CCPA requires businesses that "sell" personal information to provide a clear "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link. Meyy.info does not sell personal information, as that term is defined by the CCPA. We do not sell your name, email address, contact-form submissions, or any other personal data to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration.

However, the CCPA's definition of "sale" can include the sharing of certain data with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising — which is what Google AdSense does when it uses cookies to serve personalized ads based on your visits to this and other sites. If you would like to opt out of this kind of sharing for advertising purposes, you can do so via any of the three methods in the "Opting out of personalized advertising" section above. For California residents, the most direct opt-out is via the Digital Advertising Alliance at www.aboutads.info/choices, which sets an opt-out cookie for participating ad networks including Google.

California residents also have the following additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA:

• Right to know what personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business or commercial purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
• Right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to limited exceptions.
• Right to correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
• Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, as described above.
• Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge you different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised a CCPA right.
• Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA (such as Social Security numbers, precise geolocation, or genetic data).

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@meyy.info with the subject line "CCPA request". We will verify your identity before responding and will respond within 45 days of receipt (with a possible 45-day extension for complex requests, in which case we will inform you of the extension within the first 45 days). We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of minors under 16 without affirmative authorization.

11. COPPA — children under 13

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) imposes special requirements on websites directed to children under 13. Meyy.info is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Site is an educational resource for adults — freelancers, makers, small-business operators, and pricing professionals — and its content (pricing formulas, tax references, business-decision frameworks) is not intended for and would not be useful to children under 13.

If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 — for example, through a contact-form submission — we will delete that information as soon as practicable and within 30 days at the latest. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please email contact@meyy.info with the subject line "COPPA — minor's data" and we will delete the information and confirm deletion in writing.

Our advertising partner Google AdSense is required to comply with COPPA and does not serve personalized ads to users it identifies as under 13. We have configured AdSense (when activated) to limit ad serving to non-personalized ads for any user it identifies as a child, in compliance with Google's COPPA compliance guidance.

12. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. After that, we delete or anonymize the data. Specific retention periods are as follows:

• Contact-form submissions and email correspondence. Retained for up to 36 months from the date of the last substantive exchange, to allow us to maintain context for follow-up inquiries and to keep a record of correction requests and how they were handled. After 36 months, the correspondence is deleted from our mail system and from any backups.
• Server logs. Detailed server logs (which include truncated IP addresses) are retained for 30 days for security monitoring and abuse prevention, after which they are aggregated and the detailed logs are deleted. Aggregated traffic data (which does not identify individuals) may be retained indefinitely.
• Cookie-consent records. The cookie storing your consent choice persists for 12 months, after which the consent banner reappears and you are asked to make a fresh choice.
• Analytics data. Aggregate, anonymized analytics data is retained indefinitely for trend analysis. If we use Google Analytics, Google's retention settings limit event-level data to 14 months.
• Advertising data. Advertising cookies are set and governed by Google and other ad networks, not by us. The DoubleClick DART cookie has a maximum lifetime of 540 days from the most recent interaction, as described above.

If you request deletion of your data under the GDPR or CCPA, we will delete it from active systems within 30 days and from backups within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it to comply with a legal obligation.

13. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal data we hold. These measures include: HTTPS encryption for all traffic to and from the Site (TLS 1.2 or higher); access controls that limit access to personal data to authorised members of the editorial team on a need-to-know basis; regular security reviews of our hosting environment; and prompt patching of any security vulnerabilities in our infrastructure or dependencies.

No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority in accordance with applicable law — under the GDPR, within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.

14. Your privacy choices — summary

You have the following privacy choices available to you at any time:

• Accept or decline non-essential cookies via the consent banner that appears on your first visit. You can change your choice by clearing your cookies for the Site and reloading.
• Opt out of personalized advertising via Google's Ads Settings (www.google.com/settings/ads) or the DAA opt-out (www.aboutads.info/choices).
• Block third-party cookies in your browser. See our Cookie Policy for instructions.
• Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control signals are respected by our own first-party analytics to the extent technically possible. Google AdSense does not currently respond to DNT or GPC signals; use the Ads Settings opt-out for personalized advertising.
• Exercise your GDPR or CCPA rights by emailing contact@meyy.info.
• Stop using the Site at any time. Because calculators run client-side and we do not require accounts, simply closing the page stops all data collection by us.

15. Updates to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or the features of the Site. When we make material changes — changes that affect what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, or the rights you have over it — we will post a prominent notice on the homepage for at least 30 days and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we collect, use, and protect your data.

If we make material changes that require fresh consent under applicable law (for example, adding a new category of cookie that requires opt-in consent in the EEA), we will re-display the consent banner and ask for your fresh consent before the change takes effect. Non-material changes (clarifications, formatting fixes, minor wording updates) take effect upon posting without prior notice.
