Corrections policy

Despite our review process, errors happen. This page documents how to report one, what we will fix, how quickly we will fix it, and how we will tell you (and other readers) that we did.

Our commitment to accuracy

Pricing is high-stakes content. A wrong number on a freelance rate calculator can cost a working professional thousands of dollars per year. A broken formula on a food cost calculator can put a small bakery out of business. An outdated benchmark in a translation rate guide can lead a freelancer to quote a rate that is 20 percent below market. We take accuracy seriously because the people who use our tools are making real financial decisions based on them.

Our commitment is straightforward: when we get something wrong, we will fix it promptly, we will tell you we fixed it, and we will keep a visible record of the correction on the affected page. We will not silently edit content to remove errors and pretend they never existed. We will not bury corrections in a changelog no one reads. Significant corrections — those that change a recommended price, a benchmark range, or a fee percentage — are noted at the bottom of the affected page with the date and a brief description of what was changed.

This commitment applies to every calculator and every guide on meyy.info. It is part of our editorial policy and it is enforced by the same editorial team that creates our content. If you spot an error, please report it — we read every email and prioritise corrections from working practitioners who can cite the current figure.

How to report an error

If you spot an error in any of our calculators or guides — a wrong number, a broken formula, an outdated benchmark, a broken link, or a factual mistake — please email us at contact@meyy.info with the following information:

  • Subject line: "Correction request: [page URL]" — for example, "Correction request: https://meyy.info/calculators/etsy-seller-pricing-calculator.php". This helps us route the email to the right editor quickly.
  • The URL of the page with the error. Please include the full URL so we can find the exact page.
  • A description of the error — what is wrong, where on the page it appears (section heading or input field name), and what the correct figure should be.
  • A source citation for the correct figure, if possible. A link to a public source (the SBA, the IRS, a platform's published fee schedule, a trade-association survey) lets us verify and publish the correction much faster.
  • Your name and background (optional but helpful). Corrections from working practitioners — photographers who know the current PPA benchmark, translators who know the current ATA rate survey, Etsy sellers who track the current fee schedule — are prioritised because we can verify them against the practitioner's first-hand knowledge.

You will receive an automated acknowledgement within 24 hours and a substantive response from an editor within 72 hours. If the correction is critical (a broken formula or an incorrect fee percentage), we will fix it within 48 hours of verifying the error and notify you when the fix is live.

What we correct

We correct four categories of error:

  • Factual errors. A wrong dollar figure, a wrong percentage, a wrong date, a wrong formula coefficient, a misattributed source, or any other statement that is factually incorrect. Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are verified, regardless of magnitude.
  • Outdated benchmarks. A benchmark range, fee percentage, or tax threshold that has been superseded by more recent publicly available data. Outdated benchmarks are corrected in the next quarterly review if not critical, or sooner if the change is material (a fee increase, a tax threshold change).
  • Broken formulas. A calculator that produces an incorrect result for any combination of inputs. Broken formulas are critical errors and are fixed within 48 hours of being reported and verified. The affected calculator is taken offline if the error is severe enough to produce misleading results.
  • Broken links and typos. A link that 404s, a misspelling, a formatting issue, or any other non-substantive error. These are corrected within two weeks and do not require a visible correction notice on the affected page.

Update timeline

Our correction timelines are based on the severity of the error, not the size of the page. Severity is determined by whether the error could lead a reader to make a wrong financial decision.

  • Critical errors — broken formulas, incorrect fee percentages, factually wrong benchmarks that would lead to materially wrong pricing recommendations — are fixed within 48 hours of being reported and verified. The affected calculator or guide is updated, a dated correction notice is added to the bottom of the page, and the reporter is notified when the fix is live.
  • Material errors — outdated benchmarks, wrong source citations, missing context that affects interpretation — are fixed within two weeks of being reported. A dated correction notice is added to the bottom of the page.
  • Minor errors — typos, broken links, formatting issues — are fixed within two weeks of being reported. No correction notice is required.
  • Quarterly review corrections — benchmark updates identified during our quarterly review process — are fixed during the quarterly review cycle and noted in a batch correction notice at the bottom of the affected pages.

Transparency

Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected page with the date and a brief description of what was changed. We do not silently edit content to remove errors. The correction notice includes the date of the correction, a brief description of what was wrong, and a brief description of what was changed. The notice remains on the page indefinitely — we do not remove correction notices after a set period.

For particularly significant corrections — a broken formula that produced wrong results for an extended period, a benchmark that was materially off — we also publish a note on our homepage or in our contact newsletter, and we notify any reader who has specifically asked to be informed of corrections to a particular calculator or guide. If you would like to be notified of corrections to a specific page, email us with the page URL and we will add you to the notification list for that page.

This corrections policy is part of our broader editorial policy and is enforced by the same editorial team. If you have questions about a specific correction, or if you believe we have not handled a correction appropriately, please contact the editorial team. We review this policy annually and update it as needed; the date of the most recent review appears in the page metadata.
