About us

About meyy.info

We build free, transparent pricing calculators and rate-setting guides for the people the internet forgets — wedding photographers, Etsy sellers, food trucks, home tutors, freelance translators, and the millions of small businesses who price their work by guessing. Our mission is to make defensible pricing math accessible to anyone with a browser.

Our mission

We exist because most working people underprice — and the internet will not tell them why

Meyy.info was founded on a single observation: the people who make and do things for a living — photographers, bakers, tutors, translators, candle makers, handymen, makeup artists — are systematically undercharging, and the pricing advice available to them online is not helping. The Freelancers Union has published surveys showing that more than half of independent workers do not know their true hourly cost of doing business. Etsy seller forums are full of makers pricing handmade soap at twelve dollars a bar without realising their material and labour cost is eleven. Wedding photographers quote package prices based on what competitors charge, without ever computing their own editing hours, gear depreciation, or profit margin.

The reason is not laziness. The reason is that the pricing math is genuinely hard, the formulas are scattered across dozens of trade association PDFs and out-of-date textbooks, and the few tools that exist online are either paywalled spreadsheet templates, lead-magnets for consulting services, or random "markup multiplier" calculators that ignore overhead entirely. We built meyy.info to fix this. Every calculator on the site is free, every formula is published on our methodology page, and every tool is paired with a long-form guide that explains why the math works the way it does.

Our mission is not to tell anyone what to charge. Pricing is a personal decision that depends on your market, your goals, and your tolerance for risk. Our mission is to give you a defensible model — one built from your real costs, your real hours, and your real target margin — so that whatever price you land on, you can explain it to yourself and to your clients. A price you can explain is a price you can defend in negotiation. A price you can defend is a price you can build a business on.

What we do

A complete pricing library — free, no signup, no fluff

Meyy.info publishes two interlocking products. The first is a library of 36 free pricing calculators covering ten industries: photography, handmade and craft, food and bakery, freelance services, tutoring and teaching, beauty and wellness, home services, events and creative, and pricing fundamentals. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — the numbers you enter never leave your device — and produces a price you can quote alongside a transparent breakdown of how that price was computed.

The second product is a library of 60 in-depth pricing guides, including 8 pillar "ultimate guide" articles of 5,000 to 8,000 words each. Every guide is original content — no scraped, spun, or AI-boilerplate text — with worked examples, regional benchmarks, and citations to public sources like the U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE, the Freelancers Union, the IRS, the Professional Photographers of America, the National Restaurant Association, and the American Translators Association. Every guide is paired with the calculator that applies its methodology, so you can move directly from understanding the concept to running your own numbers.

Everything is free. There is no signup wall, no email gate, no paywall, no premium tier. We monetise through clearly labelled display advertising so the tools stay free for everyone. We do not run affiliate links. We do not publish sponsored content. We do not take payment for placement in our calculators or guides.

How we are different

A true-cost-of-doing-business model — not random multipliers

Most pricing calculators on the internet work like this: you enter your material cost, the calculator multiplies it by 2.5 or 3, and tells you the price. That is not a pricing model. That is a guess wearing a calculator costume.

True-cost model, not multipliers

Every calculator starts from your real costs — materials, labour hours, overhead, fees, target margin — and computes the price you need to charge to hit your profit goal. No magic multipliers.

Methodology is public

Every formula is documented on our methodology page with the math written out in plain notation. You can audit our arithmetic, disagree with our assumptions, and adjust the inputs.

Written by practitioners

Our editorial team includes working photographers, makers, food-business operators, tutors, and translators. We have personally faced the pricing problems our tools solve.

Updated quarterly

Fees, tax rates, and benchmark ranges change. We review every calculator and guide on a quarterly cadence against the most recent publicly available data and publish dated correction notices.

No affiliate fluff

No "top 10 web hosts" lists. No paid reviews. No affiliate links disguised as recommendations. We monetise through clearly labelled display ads only.

Guides paired with calculators

Every calculator links to a long-form guide explaining the methodology, the benchmarks, and the common mistakes. You understand the why, not just the what.

Who we are

A small editorial team of pricing analysts and working freelancers

Meyy.info is run by a small editorial team based in the United States. The team is deliberately mixed: pricing analysts with formal finance and accounting backgrounds who maintain our methodology and benchmark database, and working freelancers and small-business operators who write the guides and pressure-test every calculator against real client work. We believe this mix is essential. A pure finance team produces correct but unusable tools. A pure practitioner team produces usable but occasionally wrong ones. Combining the two is what lets us publish calculators that are both accurate and practical.

Our pricing analysts maintain the formula library, audit the arithmetic of every calculator before publication, and monitor changes to fee schedules, tax thresholds, and trade-association benchmark surveys. They are responsible for the quarterly review cadence and for the dated correction notices we publish when a material change is needed. Our practitioner writers — wedding photographers, Etsy sellers, food truck operators, home tutors, freelance translators, makeup artists, handymen, and event planners — draft the guides, supply the worked examples from their own client work, and review every calculator for usability before it ships.

We do not publish individual author bios with photos and LinkedIn links because the team is small and the work is collective. Every guide is reviewed by at least two editors before publication, and every calculator is reviewed by both an analyst and a practitioner. If you want to know more about how a specific article was researched, the sources are cited inline and you are welcome to email us with questions. Our full editorial policy documents this process.

Editorial standards

Pricing is high-stakes. We hold ourselves to financial-publication standards.

When you act on pricing advice, you are making a decision that affects your livelihood. A wrong number on a freelance rate calculator can cost a working professional thousands of dollars per year. A wrong formula on a food cost calculator can put a small bakery out of business. We take that responsibility seriously and we hold ourselves to the same standards you would expect from a financial publication.

Our editorial standards cover five areas. Originality: every guide is written from scratch by a member of our team — no scraping, no rewriting, no AI-generated filler. Accuracy: every formula is audited by a pricing analyst, and every dollar figure is cited to a public source. Transparency: our methodology is published in full, our corrections are dated and visible, and our advertising is clearly labelled. Independence: we accept no affiliate commissions, no sponsored content, and no payment for placement. Cadence: every calculator and guide is reviewed quarterly, and material corrections are published within 48 hours of being reported.

Have a pricing problem we should solve?

We prioritise calculator and guide requests from working practitioners. Tell us the pricing decision you are trying to make, the industry you work in, and any formulas you have seen work in practice. We will read every email.
